Arrival by bus and by train
Erlangen main station is a stop for ICE, IC, RE and S-Bahn trains. The central bus station (ZOB) for long-distance buses is also located directly at the main station.
Arrival by plane
The nearest airport is Albrecht Dürer Airport Nuremberg. Erlangen can be reached directly from Nuremberg Airport by bus line 30 (Erlangen Arcaden / Erlangen Hauptbahnhof, approx. 35 minutes). The underground line U2 connects the airport with Nuremberg Central Station (approx. 12 minutes), from where there are regular trains to Erlangen Central Station (approx. 20 minutes).
Arrival by car
Erlangen can be reached directly via the north-south axis of the A73 Nuremberg-Erfurt motorway (Erlangen-Nord or Erlangen-Zentrum exits).
Erlangen public transport
The conference venue is just a few minutes’ walk from Erlangen main station.
You can reach the conference office in the Redoutensaal by bus from Erlangen main station (2 minutes journey time, get off at the Altstadtmarkt stop, e.g. with bus lines 205, 286, 287, 289).
Unless otherwise stated, the lectures will take place in the Kollegienhaus next to Erlangen Schlossgarten. It is only a few minutes’ walk from Erlangen main station and from the conference office (Redoutensaal, Theaterplatz 1). The nearest bus stop is Obere Karlstraße (bus lines 284, 285, 294).
The opening event will take place in the Audimax (Bismarckstraße 1), which can be reached on foot and by bus from the main station and city centre in just a few minutes (bus stop Hindenburgstraße, bus lines 290, 299).
Nuremberg public transport
From Erlangen main station, a regional express (RE) train (journey time approx. 20 minutes) or an S-Bahn (journey time approx. 30 minutes) runs 3 to 4 times per hour to Nuremberg main station.
The Germanisches Nationalmuseum is about 350 metres from the main station and can be reached in about 10 minutes on foot or by underground lines 2 and 3 (Opernhaus stop).
Parking options
Unfortunately, there are only very limited parking spaces in Erlangen city centre. Therefore, if possible, please do not use your car for the journey. The two larger parking facilities are the large car parks at the main station (between the A 73 motorway and the Nuremberg-Bamberg railway line, approx. 1,000 parking spaces subject to charge) and the Theaterplatz car park (approx. 150 parking spaces subject to charge).
You can find more information about car parking here.
